The Project

A restless teenager, desperate to visit his long-distance girlfriend, discovers a far deeper connection with the women in his suburban hometown.

Based on the personal experiences of Writer/Director Jonathan Ade, Pennsylvania Moon is a funny, thoughtful and moving coming-of-age story set in Autumn of 2002. It follows in the great cinematic tradition of touching, nostalgic tales of youth, from 400 Blows and American Graffiti to last year's Best-Picture Oscar Nominee Boyhood.

Pennsylvania Moon follows Jacob, a high school Junior both smart and sensitive. Jacob is old enough to know his future lies beyond the horizon of his suburban hometown, yet he’s not quite old enough to leave. After a summer falling in love with an enigmatic free-spirit named Sadie, all Jacob can think about is visiting her several states away in upstate Pennsylvania, a subject she dodges in their phone conversations.

Feeling snubbed, Jacob turns to two other women in his life to satisfy different sides of his personality. There's Clara, Jacob's proto-hipster friend, who leads him through a world of drugs, vinyl and counterculture. And then there's Delia, a sarcastic, if hard-working, Russian immigrant who draws out his earnest sense of humor.

For many teens, who you are is defined by the company you keep. But who brings out the best side of Jacob?  Sadie, who maintains a hold of his desire despite the distance? Clara, whose volatility is both arousing and destructive?  Or Delia, who makes him laugh until he's reduced to tears?

Which is the real Jacob? And how can he begin to know?
